Improv / Acting Instructor

Tanner Dahlin has over 27 years of improv and acting experience and is thrilled to be an active part of the Charlotte performance community. As a veteran of NYC’s famed Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) Theater, Tanner performed as a cast member in their national touring company for over seven years and featured as a weekly performer at their renowned 42nd Street theater for eight years. He is also a pioneer of improv in North Dakota, having founded Fargo’s elite high school improv team, Donkey Hotey’s, which is now entering its 28th year.

Beyond the stage, Tanner has appeared on prominent television networks and digital platforms, including Disney, MTV, A&E Biography, and Cartoon Network, as well as in various feature and short films. He has been featured in numerous regional, digital, and national commercials, notably starring as the primary spokesperson and brand ambassador for The Ridge Wallet across several national campaigns.

Tanner has taught improv workshops across the country in theaters, colleges, and to corporate business leaders, working with everyone from first-day beginners to seasoned stage veterans. Currently, he performs locally with the dramatic improv teams Pillow Talk and Drama Queens. As an instructor, Tanner’s philosophy centers on the belief that improv should, above all, be genuinely fun. He is dedicated to helping students get out of their own heads and master the core fundamentals of strong scene work, with a special emphasis on finding the truthful moments that ground even the silliest of scenes.
