Students will explore the fundamentals of comedy writing and performance technique. This class will include both elements of writing for sketch comedy and stand up comedy, including how to find your voice, the structure of jokes, and develop your performance technique.
Students will explore and learn the fundamentals of improv and gain a basic understanding of the “Yes, And…” principle.
Students will begin to apply the basic techniques learned in Improv I, and incorporate new advanced scenic techniques that explore the relationship dynamic of the characters within the scene.
Once a student has demonstrated the knowledge of the basic principles and successful application of those elements onstage, then we may invite them to audition for the performance level. Our performance teams are grouped based on style and personality.
The performance teams are comprised of the funniest, most professional, determined, and talented performers our program has to offer! Each team has its own form, making them unique from the other teams at our studio AND the Charlotte region.
Our performance program is similar to that of Second City, Improv Olympic, UCB, etc. Our teams perform in our state of the art- Black Box Theatre called, “The Basement.” or at their home studio.
